PDP BoT Chair Urges Unity at NEC Meeting

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, on Monday, March 23, 2026, addressed party leaders and members at the 107th National Executive Committee meeting, calling for unity and careful decision-making ahead of the national convention.

The meeting brought together members of the National Executive Committee, governors, elders, stakeholders, and delegates at a time the party is preparing for its next phase. Ohuabunwa said the gathering came at a crucial point in the party’s journey, where decisions taken would affect both the upcoming convention and the future direction of the PDP.

He commended the leadership and members of the party for conducting ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses across the country. He noted that the process reflected the party’s commitment to democratic practice and proper procedures.

He also spoke on the ongoing electronic registration of members, describing it as a step towards improving how the party manages its structure. According to him, having a reliable membership record would help strengthen internal processes, improve planning, and build trust among members. He encouraged party members nationwide to take part in the registration exercise.

On issues expected to come before the committee, including zoning arrangements, the BoT chairman advised members to consider all recommendations carefully and act in the interest of fairness, balance, and unity. He said differences are normal in a political party but should be managed in a way that keeps the party together.

Ohuabunwa urged leaders and members to put aside personal interests and focus on what would help maintain stability and progress within the party. He reminded them that Nigerians and party supporters are watching closely and expect responsible leadership.

He also called for patience, understanding, and cooperation among members as the party moves closer to its national convention. He noted that the PDP must continue to operate as one united body, working together to build a strong and inclusive platform.

He concluded by expressing confidence in the party’s ability to remain united and move forward, urging all members to stay committed to its ideals and future growth.
