2027: Ex-APC senator Marafa joins ADC

Former lawmaker Kabiru Marafa has officially joined the African Democratic Congress after leaving the All Progressives Congress, marking a new step in his political journey ahead of the 2027 elections.

His defection comes at a time when the ADC is dealing with internal disagreements, especially after the electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission, removed recognition from some factions of the party following a court ruling.

Marafa had earlier stepped down from the APC in August 2025, blaming the party’s leadership for failing to address key issues affecting Zamfara State despite the support it received during the presidential election.

His latest move followed a strategy meeting held in Kaduna, where he discussed his future plans with his political base. After the meeting, he and his supporters agreed to move together into the ADC.

He has now called on residents of Zamfara State to register with the ADC and support the party as a platform for change, accountability, and better governance.

The former senator also raised concerns about practices within the APC, including claims of political manipulation tied to national identity data, which he said influenced his decision to leave.

He stated that he would complete the formal process of exiting the APC by removing his name from its membership register before fully settling into the ADC.

Plans are also underway for a large gathering of supporters in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, where he is expected to strengthen his new political base.

Marafa further expressed concern about developments within opposition parties, noting that there are ongoing efforts that could create confusion and instability within their ranks.
