In response, Onanuga dismissed Aregbesola’s position and argued that he was not in a place to judge the current administration based on his past roles as governor and minister. He pointed to challenges recorded during Aregbesola’s time as governor of Osun State, including salary delays and hardship faced by workers and pensioners, stating that these issues affected many residents at the time.

Onanuga also referred to Aregbesola’s tenure as Minister of Interior under former President Muhammadu Buhari, linking it to repeated security breaches in correctional centres and difficulties faced by Nigerians in obtaining passports. He stated that these past issues raise questions about Aregbesola’s criticism of current security concerns.
He further said that the present administration has taken steps to address economic challenges, including wage adjustments and efforts to stabilise the economy, while also admitting that some reforms have brought hardship to citizens.
Onanuga warned Nigerians to be cautious of political actors seeking power without clear plans, adding that some opposition voices are using security concerns to push their agenda.
