The African Democratic Congress on Monday in Nigeria denied reports claiming it is holding discussions with the Peoples Redemption Party ahead of a pending court decision on its leadership matter, saying the report is not true and should be ignored.

The party, through its spokesman, made this clarification in a statement released on April 20, 2026, after reports circulated suggesting possible negotiations with another party. According to the statement, there are no ongoing talks between the ADC leadership and any political party at this time.

The party explained that its current focus is on resolving its internal leadership dispute and challenging actions it believes were wrongly taken against it by electoral authorities and other actors. It added that protecting the rule of law and the country’s democratic system remains its priority.

ADC also stated that while it remains open to working with other opposition groups in the future, there is no plan to abandon its platform or enter into any agreement for now. It described claims of possible defection or merger as premature and misleading.
The party further expressed confidence that the courts would handle its case fairly despite the ongoing tension around its leadership. It maintained that its coalition efforts remain intact and that it will continue working within its structure as it prepares for future political activities.
