Otti Welcomes Ex-PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate to Labour Party

Abia State Governor Alex Otti on Monday, April 21, 2026, received former PDP deputy governorship candidate Jasper Uche into the Labour Party during a meeting held at his country home in Nvosi. Uche, who leads the Ihe Abia Organisation, arrived with members of his group after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party.

During the meeting, the governor stated that his administration would remain focused on its goals and would not be distracted until its objectives for the state are achieved. He noted that he was encouraged by Uche’s decision to join his team and acknowledged his contributions outside politics.

Otti also made it clear that his party remains open to new members, adding that steps would be taken to ensure Uche and his supporters are properly received and integrated at the local government level, particularly in Umunneochi.

Uche explained that his group had been active for several years and that their decision to join the Labour Party was based on their support for the governor’s work in the state. He said they came with their supporters to show commitment and to contribute to ongoing political efforts ahead of the next election.


He added that their goal is to work with other stakeholders to strengthen support for the governor’s re-election in 2027, noting that they intend to mobilise more voters in their area.


The visit was attended by top government officials, including the deputy governor, senior aides, and other members of the Ihe Abia Organisation, marking a new addition to the Labour Party’s support base in the state.
