The Labour Party on Tuesday announced the appointment of chairmen and members for its electoral subcommittees across Nigeria as part of preparations for its National Convention scheduled for April 28, 2026. The decision was made in Abuja and communicated through a statement issued by media aide Ken Asogwa on behalf of the party’s interim leadership.

The party explained that the committees were created to supervise its ward, local government, and state congresses nationwide. These congresses are planned to take place between April 23 and April 25, 2026, and are expected to shape the structure leading into the convention.

According to the party, the selected members are experienced individuals trusted to manage the process in their assigned states. The appointments cover all parts of the country, with different individuals assigned to lead activities and ensure smooth coordination at each level.

The leadership of the party, led by Nenadi Usman, urged those appointed to carry out their duties with fairness and honesty. The party stressed that the credibility of the congresses is important as it prepares for the national gathering in Umuahia, Abia State.
The convention, which will hold in Umuahia, is expected to bring together members from across the country to take key decisions about the party’s future. The leadership also assured members and supporters that plans are in place to ensure the event runs smoothly.
The announcement comes as political parties in Nigeria continue to organise internal processes ahead of future elections, with the Labour Party focusing on strengthening its structure through its upcoming congresses and convention.
