Kano Assembly Sets Monday for Deputy Gov Nominee Screening

The Kano State House of Assembly has scheduled Monday for the screening of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo following his nomination by Governor Abba Yusuf as deputy governor. The decision was announced on Wednesday after the Assembly received formal communication from the governor requesting legislative approval for the nominee.

The move follows the transmission of Garo’s name to the Assembly after the deputy governorship seat became vacant following the resignation of Abdussalam Gwarzo in March. The screening is expected to begin the process that could lead to Garo’s confirmation and swearing-in as the state’s new deputy governor.

Information from the Assembly indicated that lawmakers have begun preparations for the exercise, which will allow members to assess the nominee before taking a decision on his confirmation. The screening is expected to focus on his qualifications, experience and readiness to serve in the role.
