Kenneth Okonkwo of the African Democratic Congress said on Wednesday in Nigeria that the party will not be affected by Peter Obi’s move to the Nigeria Democratic Congress and will still aim to win the 2027 presidential election, speaking during a television interview on the state of the party and recent political changes.

His statement came after Obi, a former presidential candidate, left the ADC to join another political platform, a move that has drawn reactions from members and observers. Okonkwo maintained that the party remains stable and continues its preparations ahead of the next general election.

He explained that the ADC still believes it can take over leadership at the national level, adding that internal activities within the party are ongoing despite recent developments. According to him, the coalition linked with the party is still active and moving forward.
