On Saturday in Abuja, Nigeria, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over allegations of abuse of office and diversion of public funds linked to her time in government, after investigations and a court order relating to the case.

The anti-graft agency said the former minister, aged 52 and from Zamfara State, is being sought in connection with financial crimes allegedly committed while she served under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, where she was appointed in 2019 as one of the youngest members of the cabinet.

Her last known address was listed in Maitama, Abuja, and the EFCC has called on members of the public to provide useful information that could lead to her arrest through its official contact channels.
This development follows a ruling from a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, which earlier issued an arrest warrant against her in April 2026.
The EFCC stated that efforts are ongoing to ensure she responds to the allegations as part of its ongoing cases involving public funds and government officials.
