Soludo Swears In 18 Commissioners, Unveils New Exco Team

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, on Monday swore in 18 commissioners and inaugurated four heads of agencies as members of the state executive council at the Government House in Awka.

The ceremony took place inside the Executive Council Chambers of the newly completed Government House, known as the Light House. The appointments followed the screening and approval of the commissioners by the Anambra State House of Assembly.

During the event, Soludo told the new officials that their appointments were meant for service and hard work rather than celebration. He urged them to focus on governance and work together in handling the affairs of the state.

The governor reminded the commissioners that their actions and decisions would affect millions of residents across Anambra State. He also advised them to manage their ministries carefully and cooperate with one another to ensure smooth administration.


The newly sworn-in commissioners were assigned to different ministries including agriculture, education, health, environment, works, transport, housing, commerce, youth development, women affairs, tourism, petroleum resources, and local government affairs.


Among those inaugurated were Ben Odoemena for Agriculture, Dr Ekene Ogugua for Education, Dr Afam Obidike for Health, Engr Okey Ezeobi for Works and Infrastructure, Eddy Ibuzo for Transport, Esther Onyekesi for Women Affairs and Social Development, and Patrick Agha for Youth Development and Sports.


Others included Prof. Offornze Amucheazi as Commissioner for Lands, Vin Ezeaka for Local Government and Community Affairs, and Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu for Physical Planning and Urban Development.


The governor had earlier sworn in other top government officials in previous weeks. They include Barrister Tochukwu Nweke as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake as Secretary to the State Government, and Izuchukwu Okafor as Commissioner for Finance.


Soludo also inaugurated heads of some government agencies during the ceremony. They include the Managing Director of the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency, Emeka Okonkwo; the head of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Dr Ossy Onuko; the Managing Director of the Information Communication Technology Agency, Fred Agbata; and the Managing Director of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Obi Okonkwo.


The inauguration marks another phase in the reorganisation of Soludo’s administration as preparations continue for the next stage of governance in the state.
