According to members of the committee, the decision followed consultations carried out across party structures in the states and was concluded through a consensus arrangement backed by voice voting.

Onor emerged as the only presidential aspirant after formally declaring interest in the race and completing the process of obtaining his expression of interest and nomination forms earlier in the month.

Party officials explained that discussions were held across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory before arriving at the final decision to adopt him as the party’s consensus choice.

Following the declaration, party leaders proceeded to present Onor with the party flag and a certificate confirming his emergence as the faction’s presidential candidate for the next election cycle.

The event was attended by members of the faction’s leadership, including National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission were also present to observe the process at the party headquarters.

The development marks another move in the growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections as parties continue internal consultations and candidate selection processes across the country.
