2027: Peter Obi won’t win Delta again, says Oborevwori

The governor recalled that Obi secured a strong showing in Delta State during the 2023 presidential election, attributing it to backing from some Christian groups and non-indigenous residents, especially members of the Igbo community living in the state.

He said the political situation has now changed, noting that his administration has built stronger relationships with different groups in the state, including the Igbo community, and expressed confidence that they are now aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oborevwori also stated that the same factors that influenced the 2023 outcome would not be present in the next election cycle. He said efforts have been made to strengthen unity among residents and improve political cooperation across different communities.

He explained that during his own governorship election, the Igbo community in Delta State did not vote against him and has continued to maintain a working relationship with his government.

The governor added that religious leaders and political stakeholders who supported his transition to the APC had also backed his administration through prayers and public support, which he believes will continue ahead of future elections.

According to him, voting decisions in the state will now be more party-based rather than candidate-driven, as he believes this will favour the APC in 2027.

He expressed confidence that the APC will perform strongly in Delta State in the next general elections, insisting that political dynamics in the state have shifted since 2023.

Oborevwori maintained that ongoing engagement with community groups, religious leaders and political stakeholders has positioned the ruling party for broader acceptance ahead of the 2027 polls.
