School Abduction:Igboho Gives Condition, threatens to Name Politicians Behind Attack

Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho, has said he may reveal the identities of politicians he believes are behind the kidnapping of schoolchildren in Oyo State if they do not stop their actions.

He made the claim while speaking with the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students who visited him at his residence in Ibadan. The remarks were captured in a video that has been widely shared online.

Igboho said he had volunteered to assist in rescuing abducted students but was prevented from carrying out any operation by state authorities. He also denied claims that he demanded money from the Oyo State Government before offering help.

He further alleged that criminal groups are supported by political actors who supply them with weapons and funds, claiming that the aim is to destabilise the government. He also suggested that similar tactics were used in past political administrations.

The activist said that efforts to launch his own security network, known as “Iru Ekun,” faced resistance from the state government despite approval from federal authorities. He added that he was warned that any attempt to intervene directly in the rescue mission could endanger the lives of the abducted children.

Igboho also commented on national politics, saying there are efforts by some groups to create instability in order to weaken the government. He insisted that he is focused on helping secure the release of the victims rather than engaging in personal or political conflict.

The abduction took place on May 15 when armed men attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, taking dozens of pupils and teachers away. One teacher was later killed, an incident that has increased public concern over security in the state.

Security agencies have continued operations in nearby forests believed to be used as hideouts by the attackers, while tension remains high in affected communities.
