2027: Accord Party Names Imumolen Consensus Presidential Candidate

The Accord Party hasAccord Party Picks Imumolen for 2027 Presidential Race formally unveiled Professor Christopher Imumolen as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election after he emerged through a consensus process during the party’s national primary election.

The announcement was made by the party’s National Secretary, Muktar Abdullah, who stated that delegates from across the country supported Imumolen’s emergence during the exercise held in Lagos.

According to the party, delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory participated in the convention, where they agreed on Imumolen as the party’s flag bearer for the next presidential contest.

The party described the candidate as a leader with experience in business, philanthropy and public engagement. It also noted that his emergence reflected support from different sections of the party, including a large number of young members who believe he can provide fresh ideas and direction.

Accord Party leaders said Imumolen enters the 2027 race with experience gained from his previous presidential contest and a stronger political structure spread across various parts of the country.

They added that the party intends to present policies aimed at addressing major national concerns, including unemployment, insecurity and economic challenges.

Following his emergence, Imumolen expressed appreciation to party delegates and members for the confidence reposed in him. He said the outcome of the primary election marked the beginning of the party’s preparations for the 2027 presidential contest.

He disclosed that the party would submit the necessary documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission and await the publication of candidates in line with the electoral timetable.

Imumolen also stated that an Accord Party government would focus on creating jobs, improving security and restructuring key sectors of the economy to improve the welfare of citizens and reduce poverty.

The party further called on Nigerians, particularly young people and professionals, to support its political agenda as preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace.

The development comes amid growing political activities ahead of the next general election. It also follows an earlier announcement by another faction of the Accord Party, which had presented businessman and politician Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as its presidential candidate, a move that points to continuing disagreements within sections of the party.

With the emergence of Imumolen, the Accord Party has now joined the list of political parties positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential race as political alignments and campaigns gradually begin to take shape across the country.
