PRP chairman denies claim of 69 nomination forms sold to Kwankwaso

The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has rejected reports alleging that the party sold 69 nomination forms in Kano State to the Nigeria Democratic Congress 2027 vice presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Baba-Ahmed made the clarification during a television interview on Tuesday, where he described the claim as false and without any link to the party’s activities.

The controversy followed claims by a man said to be the PRP chairman in Kano, Abdulkadir Musa-Guza, who alleged that Kwankwaso or his associates bought nomination forms for all elective positions in the state. He further suggested the move was aimed at taking control of the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

However, Baba-Ahmed said the allegation was not true and insisted that the party does not sell nomination forms at the state level. He explained that all forms are issued from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja and not through state offices.

He also stated that the person making the claim is not known to the party and has no official role or authority within the PRP.
According to him, Kwankwaso could not have purchased such forms, adding that the story may have been created for political reasons within the state.

Baba-Ahmed added that he had spoken with Kwankwaso, who also found the allegation surprising, stressing that the former governor is not a member of the party.

He further explained that the PRP had already conducted its primaries and submitted its candidates’ names to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The party chairman also dismissed claims of internal crisis or factional division within the PRP, saying the party remains united and focused on preparations for future elections.

He said the party overcame earlier challenges linked to registration issues and is now fully stable and ready for political competition.

Baba-Ahmed expressed confidence that the PRP remains strong and capable of making progress in upcoming elections.
