PDP Denies Lawsuit Claims, Awaits Court Ruling

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by its Board of Trustees under Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has denied reports claiming that some of its candidates are preparing to sue the party leadership.

The clarification was made on Tuesday through a statement issued by the party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, who described the reports as false.

The party also provided an update on its legal battle with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). According to the statement, the case seeking an order directing INEC to recognise the party’s Interim National Working Committee came up for hearing before the court on Tuesday.

Lawyers representing all parties presented and adopted their arguments before the court, after which the matter was reserved for judgment. The date for the judgment is yet to be announced.

The PDP said reports suggesting that some of its candidates were planning legal action against the current leadership had no basis. It stated that none of its candidates had lodged complaints or threatened court action over the party’s affairs.

According to the party, its candidates have continued to maintain regular communication with the leadership and have been kept informed about developments concerning the party’s activities and legal matters.

The party called on members of the public and media organisations to ignore the reports and rely only on information released through its official communication channels.

It also claimed that those behind the rumours were attempting to create confusion and mislead the public by spreading false information about the party’s internal affairs.
