Tambuwal Urges Nigerians to Vote Out Tinubu in 2027

Former Sokoto State Governor and ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has called on Nigerians to use the ballot to remove President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the 2027 general elections, saying the current government has not done enough to address insecurity and other national problems.

Tambuwal made the call on Wednesday in Sokoto while receiving the immediate past Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, Isa Salihu Bashir Kalanjeni, into the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Kalanjeni recently resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also stepped down from his position as council chairman before joining the opposition party.

The former governor described Kalanjeni’s return to the ADC as a homecoming, noting that he had always remained respectful toward members of the party even after leaving for the APC. He said the former council chairman stayed away from insults and personal attacks, adding that such conduct reflected the political values of the ADC.

Tambuwal also praised Kalanjeni for resigning from both the APC and his elected office before joining another party. According to him, not many politicians would be willing to make such a decision because of the pressure that comes with leaving the ruling party.

He claimed that many politicians who leave the APC avoid joining the ADC and instead move to other political parties. He said only those who place the country’s interest above personal ambition are prepared to identify with the ADC.

The senator further alleged that attempts to weaken the opposition party had failed. He claimed the growing strength of the ADC had unsettled the ruling party and insisted that efforts to stop the party’s progress had not succeeded.

Tambuwal advised members of the ADC to remain peaceful and avoid abusive language while carrying out political activities. He urged them to stay focused on their objectives without engaging in name-calling or personal attacks against opponents.

Speaking on the country’s security situation, Tambuwal pointed to recent attacks in parts of Sokoto State, including communities around Bodinga, as evidence that insecurity remains a serious concern. He argued that the continued violence showed the Federal Government had not effectively dealt with the security challenges facing many parts of Nigeria.

He appealed to Nigerians, especially residents of Sokoto State, to work together through lawful and democratic means to bring about a change of government during the 2027 elections.

Kalanjeni’s defection is the latest in a series of political realignments taking place in Sokoto State as parties prepare for the next general elections. He was formally welcomed into the ADC by Tambuwal alongside the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya, the state chairman, Abdullahi Maigwandu, and other party leaders.
