The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on Nigerians to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) through the ongoing exercise organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), saying the process is important ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also appealed to eligible voters to support its preferred presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso when Nigerians go to the polls.
The appeal was made in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Osa Director, after the NDC carried out a mobilisation campaign encouraging citizens to participate in the PVC registration exercise.
According to the party, obtaining a PVC is the first step for every eligible citizen who wants to take part in deciding the country’s leadership through democratic elections. It urged Nigerians, especially young people and those who will be voting for the first time, not to miss the opportunity to register and collect their voter cards.
The NDC said active participation in elections remains one of the most effective ways for citizens to influence the future of the country. It added that meaningful national progress depends on people taking part in the electoral process and choosing leaders through their votes.
The party also stated that Nigeria needs a new direction built on justice, good governance, economic opportunities and hope for citizens. It urged Nigerians who desire such changes to back Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in the 2027 presidential election.
The NDC described the two politicians as leaders capable of providing the direction needed to move the country forward. It added that the party remains committed to promoting responsible leadership, national unity, economic development, improved security and better governance across Nigeria.
