Osun 2026: Oyebamiji Gives Assurance on Voter Safety

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has assured residents that they will be free to vote without fear, saying no one will be allowed to intimidate or harass voters during the election.

Oyebamiji gave the assurance on Wednesday while addressing party supporters during his campaign tour of the Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin Federal Constituency. Speaking in Okuku, he encouraged eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the election, describing the cards as an important tool for taking part in the democratic process.

He advised those who recently registered to visit the appropriate centres and work with party officials in their local government areas to collect their PVCs without delay. He also urged residents to keep the cards safe and avoid selling them, saying every vote would count in deciding the state’s next governor.

The APC candidate dismissed reports suggesting that the governorship election could be disrupted by violence. He said security agencies would deal with anyone found trying to stop people from voting or causing trouble during the exercise. According to him, voters should go about the election peacefully because their safety would be protected.

Oyebamiji also used the campaign stop to present parts of his development plans for Osun State if elected governor. He said his administration would carry every part of the state along and ensure that no community was left behind.

He explained that agriculture would receive special attention in rural areas to improve local economies, create jobs and reduce hunger. He added that his government would also invest in basic infrastructure needed to support farming activities and improve the standard of living in rural communities.

The APC flag bearer further promised to improve healthcare, education and commerce, saying these sectors would receive the attention needed to drive development across the state. He urged residents not to be distracted by rumours about violence, insisting that the election should be seen as an opportunity for the people to choose the leadership they want.

During his visit to Ikirun, Oyebamiji said he would operate an open-door administration that listens to the concerns of the people. He promised to maintain regular engagement with residents and ensure their views contribute to government decisions if elected.

The Osun State governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 15, with Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking another term on the platform of the Accord, among the candidates contesting alongside the APC and 13 other political parties.
