The All Progressives Congress will reopen its electronic membership registration exercise nationwide on August 31, 2026, as the ruling party steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The exercise will be carried out across APC wards in the country and will allow existing members to confirm and update their records while giving new members an opportunity to join the party.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced the development on Tuesday in Abuja and called on party members, supporters and other interested Nigerians to take part in the registration exercise.
The party said the electronic registration is aimed at creating a more reliable and up-to-date membership database that can be used for party planning and administrative purposes.
According to the APC, the process will also make it easier for the party to access accurate membership information across its structures and improve its internal organisation.
The exercise is part of the party’s wider efforts to strengthen its structures ahead of the 2027 elections, when it will seek to retain power at the federal level and defend its position in several states.

Existing APC members will be required to validate their details during the exercise, while people seeking to join the party for the first time will also be able to register.
The party said the registration would take place across the various wards nationwide, making the process accessible to members at the grassroots level.
The APC also stated that the exercise would support greater participation within the party and improve the management of its membership ahead of future political activities.
To qualify for registration, an applicant must be at least 18 years old and have a valid National Identification Number.
The party urged its stakeholders and supporters to take advantage of the exercise and ensure that their membership information is properly captured.
The reopening comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with membership drives and other grassroots activities expected to increase as the elections draw closer.
