President Bola Tinubu has commenced a three-week annual vacation and departed Abuja on Sunday for Europe, where he is expected to spend part of his leave before returning to Nigeria.

The President’s trip was announced by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who said Tinubu’s first destination would be London in the United Kingdom.
The vacation forms part of the President’s annual leave and comes as political activities continue to build across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the presidency, Tinubu is expected to use the period as a working vacation before returning to Nigeria to resume his official duties and take part in the preparations and campaigns leading to the January 2027 election.

The President’s departure from Abuja comes at a time when political parties and their candidates are stepping up consultations, mobilisation and other activities ahead of the polls.
Tinubu is expected back in the country after the three-week break, after which attention will shift further towards the election season and the various campaign activities scheduled for the coming months.
The President’s annual leave is expected to include official engagements during his stay in Europe, although details of his full itinerary were not disclosed by the presidency.
His administration is currently handling several national issues, while political parties are also preparing for what is expected to be a closely watched 2027 election.
The President’s return will therefore coincide with a busier political period as parties intensify efforts to mobilise voters and consolidate their support ahead of the elections.
