The move was reported on Sunday in Kaduna as politicians across the state continue to realign themselves ahead of the elections.

Among those said to have joined Sani’s camp are Bashir Saidu, who served as El-Rufai’s Chief of Staff, and Abdu Kwari, a former commissioner and senator in Kaduna State.

Also involved is Nasir Abdullahi Maikano, a former Kaduna State chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and a three-term member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly. He represented the Ungwan Sanusi Constituency during his time in the legislature.

Moukhtar Isa Hazo, a former Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, is also among the politicians reported to have returned to the APC and backed the governor.

Other grassroots political figures from different parts of the state are also said to have joined the group.

The development comes amid growing political activity in Kaduna, with various groups and politicians positioning themselves for the 2027 elections.

The return of the former El-Rufai associates is expected to strengthen Governor Sani’s political camp as the APC prepares for the next election and internal political activities increase across the state.

Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, a former Kaduna State commissioner, confirmed that the politicians had decided to move together and support the governor.

The development may lead to fresh political realignments in Kaduna as different camps seek to build stronger support ahead of 2027. It could also affect the balance of influence among political groups within the APC and across the state.
