2027: Osun APC Mobilises Voters, Says Hardship Is Temporary

The All Progressives Congress, APC, leadership in Ijesa South Federal Constituency of Osun State has urged residents to support President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies and vote for the party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections, saying the current economic difficulties will ease with time.

The position was contained in a statement issued in Osogbo on Saturday after a meeting of party leaders in the constituency. The statement was signed by Kunle Odeyemi and Femi Kujembola.

The APC leaders declared their support for the re-election of Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East in the Senate, and Olusanya Omirin, who represents the constituency in the House of Representatives.

The party leadership also called on voters to support its candidates for the Osun State House of Assembly seats covering different parts of the constituency.

Those listed include Timothy Owoeye for Ilesa East State Constituency, Babatunde Komolafe for Atakumosa East and West, and Abayomi Ojo for Ilesa West.

Speaking on the country’s economic situation, the party acknowledged that Nigerians were facing difficulties as a result of some of the economic decisions taken by the Tinubu administration.

However, the APC leaders said they believed the country would overcome the current hardship and urged residents to remain supportive of the government.

The party leadership also expressed confidence in Tinubu’s administration and its economic reforms, while calling on residents of Ijesa South to give the APC candidates their support during the 2027 elections.

It appealed to voters to participate peacefully in the elections and maintain unity and harmony within the constituency.

The APC said its continued support among residents of Ijesa South reflected the area’s long-standing connection with progressive politics in Osun State. It also pledged that its representatives would continue to serve the people while respecting their rights and dignity.

The development comes after the APC leadership in the six local government areas that make up the Ijesa axis of Osun East Senatorial District rejected calls for the recall of Fadahunsi.

The six local government areas are Obokun, Oriade, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West.

The party had described those behind the recall effort as opponents of the APC. Its Director of Contact and Mobilisation Committee in Ijesa South Federal Constituency, Akinyele Akintola, made the position known while responding to a protest against Fadahunsi in Ilesa.

Akintola alleged that political opponents of the senator were behind the protest and called on political stakeholders in Osun East to avoid actions that could create tension in the district.
