The Nigerian team delivered an impressive second-half performance to overcome their South American opponents and move closer to winning their first title in the competition.

The match ended goalless in the first half, despite several attempts by the Flamingos to find the back of the net.

Nigeria eventually broke the deadlock in the 56th minute through Queen Joseph, who finished a pass from Oluwakemi Adegubyi to put her team ahead.

The Flamingos increased their lead in the 71st minute when Awawu Bashiru scored Nigeria’s second goal after receiving an assist from Joseph.

Bashiru returned in the 80th minute to complete her brace, converting another opportunity created by Oluebube Umejiaku to give Nigeria a comfortable 3-0 advantage.

Brazil managed to score a consolation goal in the 89th minute through Greise Kelly, who was assisted by Yasmin Queiroz. However, the late effort was not enough to prevent the Nigerians from securing victory.

The result sends Nigeria into the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, where they will face Japan for the trophy.

Japan secured their place in the final after defeating defending champions North Korea in the other semi-final encounter.
