The Obidient Movement has called on President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to arrest and prosecute the Lagos State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Adekunle Mustapha, also known as Sego.
The group said Sego should be held accountable for allegedly threatening to kill anyone who votes against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections in Lagos State.The demand came after a video circulated online showing Sego allegedly making the threats.
The Obidient Movement described the statements as part of desperate tactics by the APC, which they claim lacks sufficient popular support in Lagos to win free and fair elections.
The group recalled past incidents of violence linked to NURTW members during the 2023 elections, when clashes reportedly resulted in deaths and injuries, particularly among supporters of Peter Obi and the Labour Party.
According to the movement, NURTW in Lagos has been associated over the years with violent acts, extortion, and politically motivated crimes, which they said have become a normalized part of the union’s operations.
The group urged security agencies, including the police, military, and DSS, to immediately act against Sego and other individuals involved in similar threats and criminal activities.
The Obidient Movement also appealed to the international community to take notice of the alleged threats and acts of political violence, warning that continued inaction could undermine peace in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group framed the issue as a broader concern for human rights and electoral safety in the state.
