Tinubu Meets Adeleke Behind Closed Doors at Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday met with Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, days after Adeleke secured another term in office following the Osun State governorship election.

Adeleke arrived at the Aso Rock Villa at about 5:25 pm for the closed-door meeting with the President. He was dressed in a navy blue traditional outfit and used a walking stick as he stepped out of a black Toyota Land Cruiser.

The governor arrived at the Villa alongside the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

The meeting is the first known face-to-face engagement between Tinubu and Adeleke since the governor’s re-election in the governorship poll held the previous Saturday.

Before the meeting, Tinubu had contacted Adeleke by telephone to congratulate him on his victory in the election. The President also urged the governor to bring together residents of Osun State and work with people across political lines.

Several other Osun officials also arrived at the Presidential Villa shortly after Adeleke. Among them were the Director-General of the Adeleke Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi; a member of the council, Sunday Bisi; the Osun State Chief of Staff, Akinleye Kazeem; and Bamidele Salam, who represents the Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The purpose of the closed-door discussion between Tinubu and Adeleke was not immediately made public as of the time of filing this report.

Adeleke’s visit comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with both federal and state political actors holding meetings and consultations across the country.

Further details of the meeting are expected to emerge after the discussions between the President and the Osun governor.
