Two protesters were killed, allegedly by security men attached to the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyewole, as hoodlums attacked the governor’s convoy in Osogbo, Osun State, during the #EndSARS protest on Saturday.

Eyes witnesses who spoke with WazobiaReporters said the killing occurred in Ayepe area of Osogbo some minutes past 4 p.m.

This incident occurred as the governor addressed protesters.

While informing the youth that their demands would be looked into and that he supported their peaceful agitations, the attackers began hurling rocks and projectiles at the governor’s car
It took efforts of security operatives to spirit Governor Oyetola away from the scene.
The governor had stopped his vehicle to address the protesters marching against police brutality, declaring his support for their peaceful agitations.

In a series of tweets via its official Twitter handle, the state government said armed men and women started shooting and hurling stones at the governor’s car while he was with the protesters.
“There was an attempt Saturday on the life of the Governor Oyetola. Armed with guns, cutlasses, the hoodlums swooped on the Governor at Olaiya junction,while he was addressing the #EndSARS protesters at the state capital,” it said.
“Governor Oyetola had joined protesters in the walk from Alekuwodo area to Olaiya junction, singing with them and promising them that their demands will be looked into, and that he supported how their peaceful agitations which is (sic) a part of democratic process.
“However, while still addressing the youths, the armed men and women started shooting, hurled stones at the Governor’s car.”

The hoodlums vandalised some of the vehicles in Oyetola’s convoy as his security aides whisked him away to safety after a stampede.
