Three Ekiti Indigenes, Other Ex-Corps Members Bag NYSC Presidential Award

Three indigenes of Ekiti State, were among the 100 Youth Corps members that emerged as beneficiaries of the Presidential Award for Ex-Corps member by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The three who showcased the exemplary and selflessness the state is known for Ayodele Olubusayo Abidemi, a graduate of Biology Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, who is from Awo Ekiti; Kolawole Toba Gabriel, who studied Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ilorin and Seriki Adetutu Ifeoluwa, a Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta graduate of Computer Science.

The award came after the national selection committee comprising of eminent Nigerians made a final decision on the 110 award recipients after screening the nominees forwarded by the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director-General, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, while speaking at the ceremony said, usually, those recommended for national awards are those that have won a category of awards mostly at the State level.

During the presentation of the award in Abuja on Thursday, February 11, 2021, President Muhammad Buhari offered scholarship and automatic employment to the 110 ex-corps members for their exemplary service and commitment to their fatherland.
