BREAKING: Many feared dead as truck crushes pupils in Lagos

Not less than 15 students of Babsfafunwa Millenium Senior and Junior Secondary Schools in Ojodu area of Lagos have been killed others injured, by a trailer moving on top speed.

It learnt that the trailer driver in question was running driving to avoid arrest by a combined team of officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

In the course of driving away with top speed, the trailer crushed the school children who were walking on one side of the Ogunnusi Road (old Isheri Road) where the offices of LASTMA, FRSC and the schools (four schools on same compound) are located.

“I have never witnessed such a terrible scene in my life. I saw about 15 pupils lying lifeless on the floor. The incident occurred around 2 pm,” a commercial motorcyclist told our correspondent.

Policemen of the Ojodu division had a swell task firing teargas to contain the riotous situation.

Some parents in their hundreds wailing and rushing towards the school to ascertain their children and wards were alive.

“I have not seen my three children. They went to school since morning and are not yet back. O God, let what I am thinking not befall me,” a weeping mother told lamented.

Corpses of the dead children have been evacuated while the injured have been rushed to the hospital.
