Emefiele Goes Into Hiding As EFCC Operatives Lay Siege At His Residence

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives are currently laying siege at the Colorado Street, Off IBB Way, Maitama residence of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in a bid to rearrest him shortly after his release.

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja granted bail to Emefiele on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

The presiding judge, Olukayode Adeniyi ordered Emefiele’s lawyers to ensure he is produced for arraignment whenever he is needed and that his international passport should be deposited before the court.

Our Source confirmed on Friday night, that the EFCC operatives stormed Emefiele’s Abuja residence in Maitama on the night of his release with the aim “to rearrest him despite the court order.”

It is unclear if Emefiele is at the residence but according to our source “The man has gone underground to evade arrest, they search every car going in and out of the compound.”

Emefiele, who had been in the custody of the DSS since June was immediately picked up by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in late October after the secret Police released him.

The EFCC thereafter dragged Emefiele to court where his bail application was eventually granted.
