Ogun PDP Endorses Olawepo-Hashim for 2027 Presidential Race

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State have thrown their support behind Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as their preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The endorsement was made over the weekend under the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM), which described the move as a new phase for the South-West region and an end to what it termed “politics of entitlement.”

The group said the political wave from Ogun was spreading to other South-West states, gaining traction in Osun, Lagos, Ekiti, Ondo, and Oyo.The Ogun State Coordinator of GHSM, Hon.

Gbenga Idowu, said members of the PDP across the region are ready to rally behind Olawepo-Hashim, whom they regard as a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. He accused the current administration of failing to meet the expectations of Nigerians, especially in the areas of the economy, security, and welfare.

Supporters at the gathering said Olawepo-Hashim’s proposed $4 trillion economic plan focuses on industrial expansion, power sector improvement, agriculture, and job creation for youths. They also noted his national security plan, which aims to reform defence institutions, enhance intelligence operations, and promote community policing.

According to the group, Olawepo-Hashim represents unity between the North and South and offers a leadership approach built on clear ideas and competence. They said his growing influence signals a revival of the PDP’s strength in the South-West and could reshape the region’s role in national politics.

Olawepo-Hashim, a businessman, founding member of the PDP, and former presidential candidate, has been meeting with stakeholders across the country to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 elections.

Observers believe the Ogun endorsement may spark new political alignments in the South-West as parties begin early preparations for the next presidential contest.
