The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said on Thursday that he is ready to leave office if doing what he believes is right leads to his removal. He spoke at a media briefing after the FCT Executive Committee meeting, where he addressed the recent clash between FCT officials and soldiers in Abuja.

The clash happened on Tuesday during a dispute over access to a piece of land. The incident drew public attention as videos of the confrontation circulated. Wike said he is not bothered about any pressure or backlash that may arise from actions taken while carrying out his duties.

He explained that he is focused on carrying out his work with a clear mind, adding that his main concern is to perform his duties without fear. He stated that he is not afraid of any outcome and believes that his record in office will speak for him even after he leaves.

Wike also said he is prepared to continue making tough decisions, even if some people are not comfortable with them. He noted that he has no intention of stepping aside or slowing down and will keep acting in a way he believes serves the interest of the Federal Capital Territory.
His remarks come as more reactions continue to follow the clash between him and the military officer involved, with some lawyers and commentators calling for a review of the conduct of all parties.
