The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, said on Monday that the party’s BoT and National Executive Committee meetings fixed for Tuesday in Abuja will take place as arranged. He stated this in a message issued through his media office, where he addressed claims by a group he described as impostors who suggested they had organised meetings for the PDP.

Ohuabunwa explained that the people who gathered in Ibadan on Saturday only attended a social event among associates and not an authorised party convention. He asked PDP members across the country to ignore their claims and remain focused on the party’s official activities.

He described himself as one of the early members of the PDP, recalling how he was present at the 1998 meeting in the old Abuja Sheraton Hotel, now known as Continental Hotel, where the party was formed. He also named some of the leading political figures who were present at that time and said that the PDP was built on unity and broad participation.

The BoT chairman urged members and supporters of the party to stay calm, noting that some court orders, including rulings from Federal High Courts in Abuja that stopped the PDP from holding any convention, are still awaiting decisions at the Court of Appeal. He said all party members must act within the law and wait for the court process to be completed.
Ohuabunwa added that the party needs to work toward peace and bring members together instead of holding meetings that have no approval. He advised PDP leaders to concentrate on resolving internal issues and rebuilding trust so the party can move forward with a stronger base rooted in fairness and inclusion.
