Tinubu Sends Shettima to Kebbi After Schoolgirls’ Abduction

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to Kebbi State to meet with the state government after the abduction of schoolgirls from a boarding school in Maga.

The order followed reports that armed men invaded the school and took away several girls, despite earlier intelligence warnings about a possible attack in the area.

The president released the directive through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Tinubu assured parents and guardians that the government was already working to secure the students and bring them home safely. He expressed sadness that the attackers were able to strike even after warnings had been received.

Tinubu also praised Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for the steps taken before the incident to try to prevent the attack. He called on people living in areas with security problems to give useful information to security agencies, saying that better cooperation would help the police, the military, and the DSS protect communities.
