The Kebbi State Government has faulted Senator Garba Maidoki for his recent statements on insecurity and abandoned projects, saying his claims do not match the facts on ground. The government said the comments were made at a sensitive time, shortly after the abduction of schoolgirls from Government Girls Secondary School in Maga, Sakaba Local Government Area, and accused the senator of trying to weaken public trust in the administration’s efforts.

According to the state, records showed that about 50 communities, not 200 as alleged, were affected by bandit attacks and had already been helped to return home through joint operations by security forces. The government explained that military deployments and field missions were handled by the Defence Headquarters, with the state government providing support such as logistics and equipment.

The administration listed steps taken to improve security, including the supply of over 100 Hilux vehicles and 5,000 motorcycles to security agencies, as well as the organisation of security meetings involving traditional rulers, military officers and experts. It also stated that work had started on the long-neglected Koko–Zuru road, insisting that the senator was aware of the progress being made.

The government further accused Maidoki of working against projects believed to help the people and of failing to attend meetings meant to address the security crisis. It also alleged that he was involved in political moves aimed at weakening the ruling APC government in the state. Despite the clash, the government maintained that the ruling party in Kebbi remained united and that it would continue efforts to protect lives and improve infrastructure, especially as communities in the Zuru area continue to face security threats.
