Thirty-eight worshippers kidnapped during an attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oke-Isegun in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have finally been released after spending five days in captivity.

The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, made the announcement through his media aide, confirming that the victims were freed on Sunday. The release followed coordinated efforts by the federal and state governments, alongside different security agencies working together to secure their freedom.

Although full details of how and where the victims were released were not made public, the state government credited the rescue operation to the direct involvement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and top security officials. Security deployments in Kwara State were increased after the attack, which helped strengthen operations in the affected area.

The government also acknowledged the roles played by the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police. Additional tactical police units were reportedly sent to the state to improve safety and prevent further attacks.
Community members and religious leaders expressed relief as the abducted worshippers returned safely. The incident had caused fear and tension in Eruku and nearby communities during the period of their captivity.
Kwara State has recently faced rising security challenges, especially in border communities. The release of the victims has brought a sense of relief to families and residents, while authorities continue efforts to track and stop criminal groups operating in the region.
