A faction of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, aligned with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday pledged to work with the party’s National Working Committee to rebuild internal structures and restore stability. The commitment came during a BoT meeting held at the FCT Minister’s residence in Life Camp, Abuja, where the group affirmed readiness to support reforms and oversee upcoming state-level caretaker committees and congresses ahead of a planned national convention.

The BoT’s chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, said the group regarded itself as the moral and stabilising organ of the party, tasked with guiding the NWC, ensuring decisions respect party guidelines, and guarding against divisive actions. He stated that efforts were already underway to set up caretaker committees in states troubled by internal disputes, as a step toward credible congresses and future conventions.

According to the faction, the planned reorganisations aim to restore trust, enforce fairness, and rebuild unity within the party. They argued that the BoT must act to ensure that party structures operate properly and that all steps taken follow the constitution of the PDP.

The newly inaugurated BoT leadership—approved on November 7, 2025—had earlier included the appointment of Ibrahim Dansidi as Board Secretary, alongside Ohuabunwa. Speaking at the inauguration, then-National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed said the move signalled a new phase of restoration, reconciliation, and renewal for the party.
The BoT meeting closed with a call for members to remain committed to internal reforms and unity. The group urged all party organs and members to cooperate fully to ensure the PDP emerges stronger and prepared for forthcoming electoral challenges.
