Davido Enters Politics, Joins Uncle Adeleke’s Accord Party

Davido has confirmed that he will officially join the Accord Party, aligning himself politically with his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State. The music star made the disclosure on his verified X account, stating that he would be in Osogbo to pick up his Accord Party membership card at the governor’s residence, popularly known as Imole House.
The singer’s decision comes shortly after Governor Adeleke adopted the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election. The governor publicly announced his switch earlier this month after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party, where he cited internal leadership problems at the national level as the reason for his exit.
Governor Adeleke revealed that he had joined the Accord Party weeks before the public announcement, following consultations with political allies and community leaders across the state. He explained that the party’s focus on social welfare aligns with his administration’s approach to governance and public service.
Davido had earlier reacted quietly to his uncle’s departure from the PDP by reposting the announcement online, drawing attention from fans and political watchers. His latest move has now confirmed his direct involvement with the party.
The development has stirred conversations on social media and among political observers, as it reflects the growing role of entertainers in Nigeria’s political space, especially during election build-up periods.
