Nyesom Wike said Rivers State has developed a strong system where politics goes beyond party loyalty and focuses on collective goals. He explained that the state has shown the ability to bring together people from different political backgrounds to work for a common cause, which he believes other states should learn from as the country moves toward the 2027 elections.
He said the political culture in Rivers State is built on unity and cooperation, adding that this approach has helped the state remain stable despite pressure and internal challenges. According to him, the alliance in the state has created a sense of shared responsibility among political players, making it easier to mobilize support for national leadership.
Wike expressed confidence that political actors would eventually come together on a single platform before 2027. He noted that such unity would reduce confusion and allow for better planning and focus. He also warned against overconfidence in politics, saying past errors during negotiations had taught valuable lessons that should guide future decisions.
The FCT minister said opposition groups no longer have strong influence, adding that the general will of the people has already taken shape. He maintained that no group has been left out of the political process and that the system in Rivers State is open to all who are willing to work together.
He thanked the people of Rivers State for supporting President Tinubu when many doubted his chances, describing their support as timely and meaningful. Wike also linked his appointment as FCT minister to the resilience and contribution of Rivers people, saying development projects in Abuja reflect the hardworking nature of the state.
He urged Nigerians to support leaders who deliver results, adding that leadership should be based on trust, unity, and performance. He promised to continue engaging with supporters and said appreciation remains an important part of leadership.
Earlier, the Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, Chita Eugene Epelle, welcomed Wike’s visit and described it as encouraging for the council. He said Wike’s record in public service has earned him respect within and outside Rivers State. Community leaders, traditional rulers, youths, women, and party members also pledged continued support for the minister and wished him strength as he serves the country.
