Baba-Ahmed explained that recent reports suggesting he was preparing for a presidential race were incorrect and based on a wrong reading of his comments. He said his recent public appearance was only meant to restate that he remains a member of the Labour Party at a time when many political actors are reviewing their positions ahead of future elections.
He stated that no decision has been made by him to seek the presidency and that he has not announced any intention to run for any office. According to him, discussions about possible future political moves should not be taken as a formal declaration.
The former vice-presidential candidate added that any serious move toward contesting an election must follow the official timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission and the internal process laid down by the Labour Party. Until such steps are taken, he said, no ambition can be assumed.
Baba-Ahmed also raised concerns over the way information spreads on social media, noting that political statements are often exaggerated or wrongly presented. He urged established media platforms to ensure accuracy so the public is not misled by false narratives.
The clarification has put to rest speculations that had triggered debate among political observers and supporters, many of whom believed the former vice-presidential candidate was preparing for a major political move ahead of the next general election.
