Benue State APC chairman, Benjamin Omale, during the launch of the party’s digital registration exercise in Ohimini Local Government Area of the state.
Omale said the ongoing nationwide e-registration exercise is the only reliable way to identify genuine members of the party. He explained that the digital process is meant to strengthen the APC from the grassroots and prepare it for future elections, including the 2027 polls.
He stated that the registration exercise would support the party’s plans to retain power at both the state and national levels, noting that a strong and well-documented membership base is needed to back the re-election bids of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia.
The Benue APC chairman said active participation in the exercise would allow members to fully benefit from the party, adding that those who ignore the process may lose relevance within the APC. According to him, the party needs accurate records to know its members, organize them properly, and defend their interests during elections.
Omale explained that the digital register will be used to decide who can vote during party primaries, who is officially recognised as a member, and who qualifies for appointments under APC-led governments. He warned that members who fail to register risk being left out of key party activities.
He added that no individual, regardless of status or influence, should stay outside the registration process, as the exercise is meant to secure the long-term direction of the party. He said the APC must protect its structure from non-members and outside interference.
Omale disclosed that Governor Hyacinth Alia has given full backing to the e-registration exercise, believing that a credible membership database is necessary for a strong and organised party. He urged party leaders at ward and local government levels, as well as elected and appointed officials, to mobilise members, oversee the exercise, and ensure it is carried out properly across the state.
