Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party. He completed his registration on Wednesday at his ward in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, marking his formal entry into the ruling party.
Suswam’s move came after his decision to exit the PDP, a party he had belonged to for decades. He had earlier made it known that constant internal disagreements within the PDP influenced his decision to leave. According to him, issues related to leadership, structure, discipline, and ideology had continued without a clear solution.
The registration exercise was carried out during the APC’s ongoing e-registration process in the state. Party officials were present as Suswam’s details were captured on the registration platform, and he was issued a membership card at the venue.
Before leaving the PDP, Suswam had served under the party in different roles at the national and state levels. He was elected as a member of the House of Representatives, later became Governor of Benue State, and also served as a senator. His time in the PDP covered many years of political activity and public service.
With his defection, Suswam joins a growing list of politicians who have moved from the PDP to the APC in recent times. The development adds to the ongoing political realignments ahead of future elections, particularly in Benue State and the North-Central region.
