US Military Arrives in Nigeria for Counterterrorism Support

The first group of United States military personnel has arrived in Nigeria as part of a new security partnership between the two countries.

About 200 US intelligence officers, advisers, and trainers are expected to work alongside Nigerian forces to strengthen the nation’s response to armed groups and insurgency.

This deployment comes amid growing concern over insecurity in parts of northern and central Nigeria, where attacks by armed groups have displaced communities and disrupted daily life.
