A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Tunde Lemo, has officially declared his intention to run for the governorship of Ogun State in the 2027 elections.

He made the announcement while attending ward congresses at Ward 12, Ita-Agemo, Isale-Igbein, Abeokuta.

Lemo said his aim is to speed up development at the grassroots level and tap into Ogun State’s agricultural potential for the benefit of its residents.

He spoke about the importance of effective leadership in turning the state’s resources into tangible progress.
During the event, he commended the peaceful conduct of the ward congresses and praised the current administration’s efforts, particularly Governor Dapo Abiodun’s development projects, including the agro-cargo airport slated for commercial flights.
While he acknowledged that many others are also eyeing the 2027 governorship race, Lemo said his focus remains on good governance and raising standards for the people of Ogun State.
He added that his participation in party activities is aimed at strengthening unity and growth within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former banker concluded that his ambition for 2027 is guided by his desire to serve the state and that the outcome rests in God’s hands.
