Police Investigate Mirabel Rape claim, Warn of Consequences If Allegation Fails

The Ogun State Police Command has said it is investigating the rape allegation made by TikToker Mirabel and will take action based on the outcome of its findings.

The police explained that if the claim is confirmed, the suspect will be arrested and charged in court, but if the allegation is proven to be false, the complainant could face legal consequences for giving false information.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, spoke during a television interview while responding to public reactions surrounding the case.

He stated that the police are focused on finding out what truly happened and will follow due process. He also denied reports circulating online that the TikToker had been arrested, saying she was not detained but had reported her complaint to the police, who are now investigating.

The case drew national attention after the TikToker posted a video online alleging that an unknown man forced his way into her apartment on February 15, restrained her, and threatened her. She also claimed the suspect boasted about family influence that could affect justice.

The video and her emotional posts led to widespread reactions on social media and calls for a thorough investigation.

Police authorities disclosed that after the matter surfaced online, the Commissioner of Police directed the Divisional Police Officer of the Ibafo Division to make contact with the complainant.

She later reported at the Ibafo Police Station, where officers obtained initial details. During preliminary checks, it was discovered that the alleged incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Ogijo area.

She was taken to a medical facility for examination and urgent care before being transferred to the Ogijo Police Station for further documentation and continuation of the investigation.

Due to her medical and emotional condition, she was later referred for extended treatment. The police said efforts are ongoing to ensure her safety while inquiries continue.

The command maintained that it remains neutral and committed to uncovering the truth as the investigation progresses.
