Rivers Bye-Elections: Fubara Rallies Support for APC Candidates

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has urged eligible voters in Ahoada East and Khana Local Government Areas to turn out and vote in the bye-elections scheduled for Saturday.

He made the call on Friday in Port Harcourt, encouraging residents to support the candidates of the All Progressives Congress contesting for the vacant seats in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The elections are being held to fill vacancies in Ahoada East Constituency 2 and Khana Constituency 2.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, Fubara described the exercise as a family matter and called for large voter participation in favour of the APC candidates.

The governor also appealed to residents of the affected areas to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the process.

He advised voters to remain law-abiding and avoid any action that could disrupt public order during the election period.

As preparations continue, the Rivers State Police Command has announced a restriction of movement in the two local government areas.

The order will take effect from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday to ensure security and smooth conduct of the polls.

Security agencies are expected to monitor the situation closely as voters head to the polls to choose new representatives for the state legislature.
