ADC Launches Online Registration, Orders Members to Revalidate

The African Democratic Congress has introduced a new online membership portal as part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.

The party said the online registration is free and open to Nigerians across the country. It added that the move is aimed at meeting the requirements of the Electoral Act 2026, which mandates political parties to maintain a digital membership register.

According to the ADC, existing members must also update and revalidate their information on the new portal. The party explained that only members whose details are fully captured and verified in the updated digital register will be allowed to vote or contest during the party’s primary elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier fixed the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections for February 20, 2027, and the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections for March 6, 2027.

However, concerns were raised because the dates fell within the Ramadan period.
Following the complaints, the Senate amended a clause in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, reducing the required notice period for elections from 360 days to 300 days. This allowed INEC to adjust the timetable.

The commission later released a new schedule, moving the Presidential and National Assembly elections to January 16, 2027, and the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections to February 6, 2027.

Under the revised timetable, political parties are expected to submit their updated digital membership registers by April 2, 2026.
