Ombugadu Quits PDP Amid prolonged Party Crisis

Dr. Emmanuel David Ombugadu, a former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Nasarawa State, has officially left the party. His resignation letter was dated February 28, 2026, and sent to the PDP chairman of Ikka Wangibi Ward in Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area.

Ombugadu, also known as Davematics, had been at the centre of speculation in recent weeks over his political future. In his letter, he explained that his decision followed unresolved disagreements and the prolonged leadership crisis affecting the party.

Despite stepping away from the PDP, he expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve. He acknowledged that the platform allowed him to contribute to the development of both Nasarawa State and the country during his time in office.

Ombugadu began his political career under the now-defunct Congress for Progressive Change. In 2011, he was elected to represent the Akwanga/Nassarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

After completing his first term, he later joined the PDP, where he secured a second term in the National Assembly.

His departure adds to the ongoing changes within the PDP in Nasarawa State, as the party continues to face internal challenges linked to leadership and direction.
