The congress produced the new state executive committee led by Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi through a consensus arrangement. Karamo emerged as the Assistant Publicity Secretary during the exercise.

The Lagos chapter of the APC later confirmed the development in a statement released on Thursday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo. According to the statement, members of the party received the news of Karamo’s sudden death with shock and sadness.

The party noted that his passing happened at a time when he had just been given the responsibility to serve in the state executive council. His inauguration alongside other newly elected officials was expected to take place later the same day.

Karamo was known within the party for his active participation in its activities in Lagos State. Party members described him as someone who was committed to the progress of the APC and dedicated to the growth of the organisation in the state.

Before his election into the state executive committee, he had been involved in various party efforts that supported its structure and stability. His recent victory at the congress was seen by party members as recognition of his work and loyalty to the party.

Although his time in the new position ended before it began, party leaders said his efforts and service would remain part of the party’s history in Lagos State.

Members of the Lagos APC said they were united in mourning his death and remembered him as a committed member who believed in the party’s cause.

His death came as a shock to many party members who were preparing to attend the inauguration ceremony for the newly elected executives.

The event was meant to formally usher the new leadership team into office following the state congress earlier in the week.
