The Tajudeen Baruwa-led faction of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has taken control of the union’s national secretariat in Abuja. The move occurred early Monday when members of Baruwa’s faction entered the union headquarters.

The takeover follows a long-running dispute over the union’s leadership between Baruwa and Ayinde Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo. MC Oluomo was elected National President of NURTW in November 2024, but a court later ruled in favor of Baruwa in the ongoing legal battle over the leadership position.
